On Nov. 7, the former goalie will serve as the honorary chair of the 2025 Swing Fore Miracles
When former Dallas Stars goaltender Marty Turco talks about community, it’s not just lip service, it’s a way of life. This fall, he’ll return to the spotlight, not on the ice, but at Topgolf in The Colony, as the honorary chair of the 2025 Swing Fore Miracles Presented by Neighborhood Credit Union.
Now in its fifth year, the charity tournament benefits Children’s Health and supports the construction of a new Dallas pediatric campus in partnership with UT Southwestern Medical Center.
Turco will share the honorary title with 16-year-old Adalynn, a Children’s Health patient who’s faced her rare digestive condition with resilience and optimism. Together, they’ll help lead one of North Texas’ most impactful fundraising events on Nov. 7.
Giving Back Is Part Of His Game
Turco’s connection to Children’s Health goes back to his early days with the Dallas Stars. “As a player, you get to meet these incredible kids and families, and once you see the work Children’s does, you just want to stay connected,” he told Local Profile. “They show up for people when they need it most, and if I can help in any way, whether it’s raising funds, awareness, or smiles, I’m all in.”
For him, true leadership means being present, supporting meaningful causes like Children’s Health, and using his platform to help improve the lives of others. Now a father himself, Turco says the mission resonates even more deeply.
After more than two decades in North Texas, Turco has become as known for his philanthropy as his goaltending. “There’s just no place like North Texas,” he said. “It’s pro-business, pro-family and full of people who give back.
Teamwork On And Off The Ice
Turco sees a clear connection between hockey and community work. “Hockey taught me that no one wins alone,” he said. “It takes everyone, from players, coaches and fans, pulling in the same direction. The same is true here. Children’s Health, UT Southwestern, sponsors and volunteers all have a role. When people come together for a shared goal, great things happen.”
That same sense of teamwork has fueled the event’s steady growth over the past five years, as more sponsors, players and supporters join in after seeing the real impact it makes for children and families.
Building Community, One Swing At A Time
Swing Fore Miracles has quickly grown into one of Children’s Health’s signature fundraising events, bringing together corporate sponsors, golf enthusiasts and families united by one goal: helping kids.
The proceeds will go toward the upcoming Dallas pediatric campus, a joint effort between Children’s Health and UT Southwestern that Turco calls “a game-changer.” He added, “It’s not just another building. It’s a world-class center for innovation, research and care.”
The Real Impact
Joining Turco this year is Adalynn, a vibrant teen who lives with colonic dysmotility, a rare condition that affects her digestive system. Through treatment at Children’s Health, she’s been able to return to the activities she loves — sports, baking and art.
“The child life specialists make me feel more comfortable, more at home,” Adalynn said. “They’ve taught me it’s OK to be scared and also to tell the doctor and nurses what I like or don’t like. They have helped me to stay strong and do the things I love.”
Her courage and positivity embody the event’s purpose: to celebrate resilience, raise awareness and fund care that changes lives.
An Event With Heart And Impact
This year’s Swing Fore Miracles will include team-based play, networking opportunities and the popular Longest Drive Challenge sponsored by Good Good Golf. Neighborhood Credit Union returns as the presenting sponsor for the fourth consecutive year, helping expand the event’s reach across North Texas.
With leaders like Marty Turco and patient champions like Adalynn, Swing Fore Miracles continues to prove that the greatest victories happen off the scoreboard, when a community rallies together for its kids.
