Dr. Mark Twite will help advance the vision of Nemours Children’s Health to “create the healthiest generations of children in the Delaware Valley and beyond.”

Nemours Children’s Health has named Dr. Mark Twite its Chief of Cardiac Anesthesia and Co-Director of the Nemours Children’s Cardiac Center in the Delaware Valley.

In this new role, Dr. Twite will lead the delivery of cardiac anesthesia services with oversight of the region’s cardiac anesthesia program. He will also play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the strategic direction of the Cardiac Center in the Delaware Valley.

“Dr. Twite has a proven track record of advancing pediatric care, research, and medical education that spans three decades,” said Dr. Katherine Deans, Surgeon-in-Chief for Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware Valley. “His expertise as a clinician and an academic will help advance our vision to create the healthiest generations of children in the Delaware Valley and beyond.”

Prior to joining Nemours Children’s Health, Dr. Twite served as Professor of Anesthesiology and Director of Congenital Cardiac Anesthesiology at Children’s Hospital Colorado. He has authored more than 80 research publications and more than a dozen book chapters.

“Nemours Children’s Health has solidified itself as the leader in pediatric cardiology care in the Delaware Valley, as reflected in its most recent U.S. News & World Report ranking, and I’m excited about the opportunity to join the incredibly talented and committed team as we continue working to improve the health and well-being of children,” said Dr. Twite.

Dr. Twite’s extensive medical training includes fellowships in pediatric critical care and pediatric cardiac anesthesia. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Colorado and earned his medical degree from the University of Cambridge. Additionally, he earned a master’s degree and two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Cambridge.

Dr. Twite is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and holds a subspecialty certification in pediatric anesthesiology. He has received multiple accolades for his contributions to the medical field, including the Young Investigator Award from the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia and the Teacher of the Year Award from Children’s Hospital Colorado. Dr. Twite has also previously served as president of the Congenital Cardiac Anesthesia Society.
