There’s A Pilates Girl In Us All
There’s a certain kind of woman I’ve always aspired to be. She wakes up well-rested, slides into her matching activewear set, and rolls out her mat for a Pilates session before her morning protein coffee. She’s a daily journaling, mindfulness-practising, whole-foods-eating goddess who ensures self-care is a top priority.
I have tried – I swear – to be that woman. I know all the benefits Pilates can offer; I’ve seen Miley Cyrus’s arms. But between being a mum to a toddler, work deadlines, running a household, social plans, and the seasonal slump that kicks in the second the temperatures drop, my fitness routine becomes a patchwork of good intentions. And while I love the idea of in-studio Pilates, the logistics (booking early, commuting, remembering socks with rubber dots) often mean it just… doesn’t happen.
So, when I heard about the BetterMe Pilates Power Kit and the curated Pilates programmes inside the BetterMe: Health Coaching app, I realised something: maybe I am a Pilates girl after all – I just needed a version that fits with my life, and not the other way around.

First, let’s talk aesthetics, because if I’m working out at home, I want it to feel inviting, not like I’ve dragged a bunch of clunky, dated equipment into the spare bedroom. The Pilates Power Kit, in its attractive, matte shades, is genuinely chic – especially the on-trend chocolate brown shade. It’s compact enough to tuck under the sofa but stylish enough that I wouldn’t feel the need to hide it when I have company. So much of working out is in your mindset, which is why a new pair of stylish gym leggings (or a good-looking new Pilates set) is likely to get (and keep) you motivated.

The kit itself is all-in-one: versatile resistance bands, a Pilates ring, sliders, and everything you need to build strength, flexibility, and alignment. It’s clearly designed with both beginners (me) and seasoned Pilates devotees (not me… yet) in mind. What I love most is how intuitive everything looks; nothing is intimidating or overly technical – and that’s mirrored in the dedicated app.
The BetterMe: Health Coaching app doesn’t just hand you a long list of workouts; it creates an entire ecosystem around your real habits, schedule, energy levels, and even your menstrual cycle. And that’s the part that impresses me most and perhaps is what previous apps and programmes have been missing with a one-size-fits-all approach.
Betterme
The app comes with over 4000 workouts, personalised meal plans, a calorie and water tracker, step counter, a cycle tracker, sleep and heart-rate insights, and practical tips that actually feel encouraging instead of prescriptive or patronising. It’s earned multiple wellness awards, so it won’t be just another fad workout app cluttering up your phone.
Refreshingly, the kit-specific workouts integrate seamlessly. The guided sessions show you exactly when and how to use each piece of equipment, so even when trying something new, you have all the support of an in-person instructor, with none of the ‘at-the-front-of-the-class’ awkwardness.

Users of BetterMe are already raving about the service, with one user saying, ‘I love the possibility to do my session at any time I feel like it and the fact that the level of difficulty is personally adapted. It’s also wonderful to be able to try different sports like Pilates and yoga. Variety is the spice of life!’
Another happy customer wrote, ‘I really appreciate having my workouts chosen for me daily. All I have to do is open the app and press start. The workouts are easy to follow and definitely push you… Best fitness and health app I’ve used in a long time.’

And so I’ve realised – working out at home doesn’t need to feel like a second-rate version of a gym class or Pilates studio. Instead, it can feel curated, elevated, and honestly, kind of luxurious. The chic kit and thoughtful app create the kind of stylish, efficient wellness setup I’ve always associated with the women who seem to have their lives together.
Maybe I’m not the stereotypical Pilates girl, but with the Pilates Power Kit and the BetterMe app, I’m suddenly much closer to the version of myself I’ve always admired. And if I can squeeze in a 20-minute session between meetings or right before bed? That’s my kind of self-care.
